"My dearest Jo and Elizabeth, Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend of illumination, reflection and cathartic realisation. I feel the better for it. It was such a relaxed, unjudging and positive environment where I felt safe and ready to move myself on. The location was amazing and I loved having the freedom to just walk out the door and walk 3 miles up a hill. Perfect. !"
Regular classes
Classical Hatha Yoga
Yoga is an oasis of calm in a busy, stressful world. And the more you practice, the better you get at taking that calm with you as you step back into your life.
In a classical hatha yoga session you can expect to do between 40-60 minutes of poses(asanas), aiming to give the body a complete 'work-out' each time, unblocking and controlling the flow of energy as you become familiar with each pose. Then you can expect 5-10 minutes of breath work, and 5-15 minutes of relaxation. Crucially, there is no need to strain, as the breath carries you further into each stretch, so it is suitable for all levels of fitness and current health, as well as being very beneficial for those recovering from ill health or injury of one sort or another.
Classes are held at the William Hobbayne Centre, Lower Boston Road, W7 on:
Mondays 8.15-9.45pm, £9 or £36 for 5
Tuesdays 6-7.10pm, £8 or £32 for 5
Relaxation and Meditation
Relaxation and meditation are two simple and uniquely powerful ways to combat the effects of too much 'doing' in life and to restore the body and mind to a baseline state of health. Considerable research is available on the cardiac, immune and emotional benefits of relaxation and meditation, and it is easy to build into your daily schedule once you stop and consider what will work for you.
In addition to these health benefits, meditation provides an opportunity to go inwards, to connect with your deepest self, enabling you to lead a vital life and to be more effective in your work, community and home.
These weekly classes are suitable for those with no prior experience and those who have tried different relaxation or meditation techniques before. We cover a range of styles so that each person can become familiar with what works best for them.
Classes are £6.50 drop-in and are held:
Mondays 7-8pm at the William Hobbayne Centre, Lower Boston Road, W7
Wednesdays 6-7pm at the Northfields Community Centre, Northcroft Road, W13
